Burns
and Collins Team Up for 2003 Season |
Bakersfield,
CA.- Todd Burns, 2002 Irwindale Speedway Late Model
Champion, and Gary Collins of Collins Motorsports out of
Bakersfield have teamed up for the
2003 season. Burns will be competing in the late model
division at Irwindale Speedway in a new Collins-built G-Force
chassis.
Coming off a very successful 2002 season which the Burns
Motorsports team started 18 races, won five, had 17 top 10
finishes, and took the championship, they are eager to get
back to racing. “I’m really looking forward to this season
with the new car and working with Gary. He is very
knowledgeable and he has had much success with his other
drivers. I have a lot of respect for Gary and we both want
one thing and that is to win races and challenge for the
championship,” Burns stated. “We’re happy to be a part of the
Burns organization and we’re looking forward to good results
this season,” said Collins.
Maropulos Racing Engines will be powering Burns’ 2003 Monte
Carlo along with drivetrain supplied by Ron’s Rear Ends, both
of which helped the team capture their championship. Villa
Roma Sausage Company will be returning as a sponsor on the
#4. This marks the fifth year they’ve been associated with
Burns Motorsports.
Burns and his crew chief James Valk are also in talks with
possible sponsors to run a few Winston West races and possibly
get in a Southwest Tour car for a race or two. “We’re

forward to going back to the late model
division this year, but I would like to see Todd be able to
showcase his talent in the West series or the Tour. We’re
working on that and we’ll see what happens. As far as the
late model, it’s a new year, new car, and a whole new attitude
for our team,” James stated.
Look for the Burns Motorsports team to debut their new ‘03
Chevrolet Monte Carlo at Irwindale Speedway on opening night,
March 29th. |
