STEVE HUGHES MADE "OFFICIAL VOICE" OF MESA MARIN RACEWAY

Bakersfield, CA –Steve Hughes will take over the lead announcer position at Mesa Marin Raceway in 2003. We want to thank Dave "Sully" Sullivan for many years of service as Mesa Marin's Voice. Hughes has 8 years experience as a motorsports announcer. He has 4 years experience at Mesa Marin working in the pits as Sully's man in the pits. Hughes will continue to handle the pit duties as well as being the "VOICE OF MESA MARIN." He also works as the manager for Brento's Cycle Center here in Bakersfield.
Vance Palm will be the new man up in the booth at Mesa Marin. Palm is a Cal State University Bakersfield graduate. Palm is no stranger to the sporting life, having played baseball and basketball at Bakersfield Junior College and basketball at Cal State University Bakersfield. Vance is currently Head Coach for a JV basketball team and a salesman for a hotel chain. Having established himself as the "Voice of Time Warner Sports" in Kern County, Palm will take his skills as a broadcaster in basketball, football, and boxing and bring a fresh sound to the famous oval track in East Bakersfield.
Hughes and Palm are doing a half-hour live TV show about NASCAR racing in Bakersfield on Time Warner on Fridays at 6:30 PM on channel 21. The show is fast paced and gives you a real interesting prospective on the week at Marin Marin Raceway.

MESA MARIN AND NASCAR MOVE FORWARD WITH WEEKEND EVENTS
Statement from Mesa Marin VP, Larry Collins

Bakersfield, CA – As we observe the latest information regarding the situation in Iraq, Mesa Marin and NASCAR will continue with our current schedule of events for the up coming weekend.

At the same time we will not lose sight of the sacrifices our troops and their families are making during this difficult time.  In a show of support of our troops, hundreds of American flags will be displayed during the singing of the National Anthem on Sunday prior to the start of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series “Lucas Oil 250”. Color guards representing the Navy and Air Force will be present and a Naval fly-by is scheduled.
