Brian Richardson ran his Rich-Pak Motorsports Dodge Intrepid
to a strong 2nd place finish to Winston Cup Driver Kevin
Harvick in the Cingular Wireless/Young Woolridge 75 at Mesa
Marin Raceway on Saturday Night. Richardson who qualified on
the pole started in the 3rd position on the grid. Richardson
stayed in front of Harvick for 30 laps as Harvick moved up
through the field. Harvick and Richardson drove door to door
then Harvick made the pass. At lap 34 Richardson was in 4th
and chasing Harvick. At lap 57 Richardson was 3rd with Ron
Hornaday in the 11 car on his heels. By lap 70 Richardson
found himself in 2nd place and closing on Harvick but he ran
out of laps to catch him. Ron Hornaday finished the race in
third place. When asked about the race, Richardson said, "
This is the most exciting day of my racing career, to race
door to door with Kevin Harvick - what else can I say?".
Richardson who was the Mesa Marin Raceway Late Model Rookie of
the Year in 2000
is the points leader in the 2003 Late Model Series at Mesa
Marin Raceway with 2 wins in his Collins Motorsports G-Force
Car. Harvick drove Richardson's back up car in the race. The
two cars are both G-Force chassis built by Collins Motorsports.
Gary Collins built the prototype truck for the Craftsman Truck
Series and drove in the series. |
