Irwindale, Ca.-
Todd Burns' off-season homework is paying off. Burns continued his winning
streak Saturday night at Irwindale by taking his sixth consecutive victory and
his 32nd overall at the ½ mile speedway in his Villa Roma Chevrolet mount.
Burns' fourth spot qualifying lap placed him in the sixth starting position for
the 50-lap AAA Late Model main. At the green, Burns dove low to start taking
positions. A pileup on the first lap caused a complete restart, putting Burns
back to his original starting spot. Once again, Burns took the green and

working on the front competitors.
One by one he found himself all over the bumper of the leader,
#3 Mike Price. Burns ducked under Price in turn four to
take the lead on lap 40. A late-race caution flew
causing a green-white-checkered finish. Burns restarted
followed by the #50 and the #3 battling for position behind
him and took the checkered to make it his sixth win of the
season.
Burns stated to the on-track announcer, "Nothing gets through the corners like a
Collins Motorsports G-Force chassis. This car is awesome and I've got to thank
my guys for all the effort and hard work as well as Villa Roma Sausage Company.
They've been a great sponsor and stuck with us the past five years." Later when
asked about his success this season Burns stated, "I'm not surprised about our
results so far this year. We set out to win races and that's our goal for the
year. Gary Collins has helped us so much and the car is just incredible. Bill
Maropulos Racing Engines gives us great power, Ron's Rear Ends helps us a ton,
and we couldn't be successful without all the people here on this car as well as
my team. We've got a great group of sponsors and guys who helped us put this
whole deal together this year."
Burns Motorsports will return to Irwindale Speedway on July 5th for the
Firecracker 100. |
