HOLTZ Muscles his way to a
3rd place finish on only 7 Cylinders |

Bakersfield, CA Dan Holtz finished 3rd in the
Southwest Tour Race at Mesa Marin Raceway
Saturday Night. Holtz started 10th on the Grid in the
Victory Circle 150 and by the 50th lap his Thompson
Motorsports Ford Taurus had lost a cylinder. Holtz
had to change his line to a more aggressive
approach to make up for the loss of power. In the
turns he drove in a car length deeper and on the exit |

he hammered it as soon as he
could to make up for the loss of horsepower. By lap 125 Holtz
was in 4th
place after passing 3 cars. There was an incident that sent cars spinning
on the front straight as the white
flag waved and the track stayed green for the last lap. Holtz did some
great driving to avoid some cars and
stay in front of the 4th place finisher to finish in 3rd place. When asked
about the race Holtz said, " We
turned lemons into lemonade."
Holtz is 4th in points in the race for the Southwest Tour Championship with 1
WIN and 1 POLE. He also
in the lead for the Mesa Marin Super Late Model
Championship with 3 WINS out of 3 races run. |
