Bakersfield, CA Dan Holtz drove his CAL SPAS Ford Taurus to a Super
Late Model Qualifying Record at Mesa Marin Raceway on Saturday
Night. The Temperature at the track was sweltering which made
the track slick. Holtz Qualified at 18.63 for the "Coors Light
Challenge Series" presented by 3M to break the Super Late Model
Track Record. Holtz started the race in the middle of the field
because of the invert. Starting 5th on the grid, Holtz moved up
through the field to finish 3rd. When asked about his qualifying
run Holtz said, " I was fortunate to have the best car I have
driven all season." When Holtz was asked why he got 3rd with
such a great car he said," I couldn't have won without moving
some people around and I didn't want |

to do that." Holtz is in the lead for the Mesa Marin Raceway
Super Late Model Championship with 3 WINS and a Track Qualifying
Record. Holtz was the 2001 Mesa Marin Raceway Track Champion.
Dan Holtz is also competing in the NASCAR Southwest Tour Series,
where he is in 4th place in the championship race with 1 WIN and
1 POLE. Holtz is driving for Thompson Motorsports and Rialto
Concrete Products. Holtz's next Southwest Tour Race is on July
26th at Madera Speedway. |
