Irwindale, CA Todd Burns' winning streak continued on Saturday
night at Irwindale Speedway. Burns picked up his eighth
consecutive win (a new record) of the 2003 season and his 34th
overall in his Villa Roma Chevrolet.
Burns' Gary Collins G-Force Chassis is just plain working lately.
The team worked all day to make the car good for the 50-lap AAA
Late Model main. After the last practice, they made a few minor
changes and on toqualifying they went. Burns clicked off a third
place lap, |

Burns was quick to challenge the # 53 and the # 15,
both of which started on the front row |
which put him in the second row inside for the race. "My crew
chief James and my guys give me a car anyone could drive," Burns
stated.
At the start, Burns was quick to challenge the #53 and the #15,
both of which started on the front row. Burns dove low in turn
four to take the lead on lap 9 and never looked back. The battle
was behind him for second place with Burns taking the checkered
followed by the #15, #48, and #45. An elated Todd Burns stated
to on-track announcer Wendy, "Thanks to Villa Roma Sausage,
Circle Racing Wheels, Maropulos Racing Engines, Ron's Rear Ends,
Dalcorp, and so forth. I also want to mention a special thank
you again to Villa Roma and BCSportsimages.com for putting up
the big purse last weekend. Also, Wendy Zajicek of Ron's Rear
Ends, we wish you a speedy recovery, and last but not least my
team. I could not do any of this without them."
Look for Todd Burns on July 26th in the King Taco 200 NASCAR
Winston West race at Irwindale Speedway. He is pulling double
duty that weekend piloting his Winston West car as well as his
AAA Late Model. Also, Burns will be the feature article in the
L.A. Times written by Shav Glick. We're unsure of the release
date at this time, but will keep you posted. His feature
articles normally run in Friday's newspaper.
Once again, thank you, Mr. Glick. It was a pleasure meeting you on
Saturday and thank you, Doug Stokes - Todd B. |
