Irwindale, Ca.-
Todd Burns' luck continued on Saturday night at Irwindale Speedway in
the Villa Roma Firecracker 100. Burns captured his seventh consecutive
win, the biggest purse in Irwindale history for the late models, and the
points to boot. Saturday's victory makes Todd four-for-four in the
100-lap races he has entered at the ½ mile speedway since 1999. He did
not enter the 100-lap open comp show last year.
Burns' qualifying lap placed him on the outside pole in the 29-car
field. The field took a couple patriotic laps all bearing
American flags in honor of the 4th of July holiday. When
Burns took the green he led all 100 |

laps, avoiding several on-track
incidents, to take his 7th win of the 2003 season and his record
33rd overall.
A jubilant Burns
emerged from his Villa RomaChevrolet/Gary Collins
G-Force Chassis to a cheering crowd and couldn't be more pleased with
his performance, "Thanks to Villa Roma for all their support as well as Maropulos Racing Engines, Gary Collins, Ron's Rear Ends, Dalcorp, and
the list goes on. All my guys did a heck of a job. They all worked
hard this past week and today to make this happen. We came out here and
tested on Thursday and it went pretty well, but we're still working to
make the car better."
"A big Thank You to Bill Coleman of Bcsportsimages.com for putting
together the lap sponsorship money as well as Villa Roma Sausage for
their very generous contribution to the purse," Burns later stated.
Get well soon Wendy Zajicek of Ron's Rear Ends from all of us at Burns
Motorsports. We missed you both at the track and hope to see you soon!
Burns Motorsports will return to Irwindale Speedway this Saturday, July
12th. |
