Bakersfield,
CA (Oct. 18, 2004) It was the 27th October Classic at Mesa
Marin Raceway. Dan Holtz started the NASCAR Autozone Southwest
Series "FORD Motorcraft 150 " 8th on the grid after qualifying
3rd best.
Holtz quickly passed 2 cars to move into 6th place with a very
strong car. At around lap 55 Holtz had the feeling he had a
tire going down. Holtz said, "Everytime we had a restart the
car wouldn't go, then the more laps we ran the better the car
got". Holtz was battling at every restart to hold off the cars
behind him until the tire pressure would come up. He figured
it was going down at least 6 pounds at every yellow. The car
was pretty good on the long runs except at the end of the
race. After two restarts after race was supposed to be over,
Holtz finished the race 4th in his Thompson Motorsports/Rialto
Concrete Products Ford Taurus. Holtz had the won the Southwest
Series Race at Mesa Marin Raceway in March 2003. Holtz has a
Port City Chassis and Watkins Engine Development Motor.
Dan Holtz was 5th in points in 2003 with one WIN in the
Southwest Series. He was also the 2001 and 2003 Mesa Marin
Raceway Super Late Model Champion. Holtz plans on running the
entire 2005 Southwest Series Schedule. |
