HPS Mechanical / Victory Circle Chassis 100
SRL Wild West Late Model Series Debuts at Mesa Marin Raceway

Bakersfield, CA – This Saturday night the SRL Wild West Late Model Series will make its first ever appearance at Mesa Marin Raceway. The HPS Mechanical / Victory Circle Chassis 100 will be the first of three stops for the SRL series at Mesa Marin in 2004. This Saturday night’s event will feature the S R L Wild West Late Models, Mesa Marin’s NASCAR Late Model Series and its 911 Race for Youth Series.
“We are very pleased to be part of the SRL Late Model Series. We have heard a lot of great things about the series over the years and are looking forward to partnering our first SRL event with HPS and Victory Circle.” stated Mesa Marin Vice-president, Larry Collins.
For the first time since its inception, Davey Hamilton’s S R L Wild West Late Model Series will venture south beyond its traditional venues of Madera Speedway, Stockton 99 Speedway and Altamont Raceway Park.
“The competitors as well as the SRL are very excited to visit Mesa Marin in the 2004 season. It is a great opportunity for our drivers to get experience on Mesa Marin’s high banked half mile”, stated SRL Wild West Shootout series director, Steve Fensler.
The rules of the SRL Late Models essentially match those of NASCAR’s AutoZone Southwest Series, which has competed at Mesa Marin fifty-four times since 1987.
In addition to over thirty SRL regulars, NASCAR AutoZone Southwest Series standouts Craig Raudman, Kevin Vernon, Burney Lamar, Tommy Fry and others plan to compete at Mesa Marin this Saturday night.
An open practice for SRL, Late Models and Street Stocks will be held on Friday evening April 16 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

MESA MARIN AND NASCAR MOVE FORWARD WITH WEEKEND EVENTS
Statement from Mesa Marin VP, Larry Collins

Bakersfield, CA – As we observe the latest information regarding the situation in Iraq, Mesa Marin and NASCAR will continue with our current schedule of events for the up coming weekend.

At the same time we will not lose sight of the sacrifices our troops and their families are making during this difficult time.  In a show of support of our troops, hundreds of American flags will be displayed during the singing of the National Anthem on Sunday prior to the start of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series “Lucas Oil 250”. Color guards representing the Navy and Air Force will be present and a Naval fly-by is scheduled.
